Wisdom

Wisdom, wisdom, wisdom.

I wonder, what is wisdom?

I ponder this often.

Wisdom.

Solomon.

Wisdom.

I suspect wisdom is at the nexus between opening your mouth and shutting your trap.

Knowing when to gently share the truth. The truth hurts, Genevieve, my best friend cried hotly at me one time. Ah yes, but sometimes the truth sets you free.

As in: the Gospel.

I have tried to be a truthteller my entire life. I really have tried.

People really don’t like it.

We Wolf women have a tendency to open our mouths and just tell you exactly what we think.

Except for when we don’t.

But that gets complicated.

I have been known to out-maneuver my best friend for her own good. Is this manipulation? Or actually, a great example of love?

Anyway, people have given me shit my entire life for how I express myself. There’s always someone unhappy with it. As my mom is fond of saying: You cannot please everyone all of the time.

Some hurtful adjectives come back to me from over the years. Stressful. Combative. Argumentative. Crazy.

Which is funny because I’ve taken endless writing classes, public speaking classes, socratic seminars, and endured so many hard knocks of everyday life.

I’ve been told to tone it down, especially so I can land a man.

HA!

See, I have this rad belief that I, as a woman, am the equal to any man. In my identity as a daughter of God. As a person of equal value — Here at last is bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh! Adam cries in Genesis. Note Eve comes from his side, his rib — not his hair, not his foot, his rib — his complete equal.

Catholicism is really the ultimate feminist movement.

So.

What is wisdom?

Oh.

Right.

This is why I have a spiritual advisor.

LOL. I will go ask her.
